Career: Howard White is Fellow in Vulnerability and Poverty Reduction
at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex. An economist
with interests in poverty analysis, macroeconomic debates especially related
to growth and distribution, Howard White works on all aspects of aid effectiveness
and poverty reduction. He has published widely on macroeconomic aspects of
aid impact, and is now specializing in micro-level impact evaluations, the
determinants of human development and aid effectiveness. He has worked in
a number of African countries (most recently Ghana, Tanzania and Zambia) as
well as Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Howard White is Joint Managing Editor of The
Journal of Development Studies (see url below).
Publications include: Targeting Development: Critical Perspectives on the Millennium Development Goals (co-editor) 2004, Books, Buildings and Learning Outcomes: An Impact Evaluation of World Bank Assistance to Basic Education in Ghana (co-author) 2005; numerous articles in professional journals
