Career: Stephen Schwartz has been Editor of The Nonproliferation Review
(see url below) published by the Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the
Monterey Institute of International Studies since 2006. He previously served
as Publisher and Executive Director of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists
from 1998–2005, Guest Scholar and Project Director with the Foreign
Policy Studies programme at the Brookings Institution from 1994–98,
Washington representative for the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability from
1992–94, and Legislative Director for nuclear campaigns with Greenpeace
USA from 1988–92. A nationally recognized writer and nuclear weapons
policy analyst, Stephen Schwartz has written for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
the Boston Globe, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, Commentary, New Perspectives
Quarterly, the Chicago Tribune, Newsday and the Los Angeles Times, among others.
A sought after commentator and analyst, he has appeared on ‘60 Minutes’,
ABC's ‘World News Tonight’ and ‘Nightline’, CNN, National
Public Radio’s ‘All Things Considered’, and in several television
documentaries about nuclear weapons.
Publications include: Atomic Audit: The Costs and Consequences of U.S. Nuclear Weapons Since 1940 (editor and co-author); numerous articles in professional journals
