Career: Thomas Saalfeld is a Reader in Political Science in the Department
of Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent, Canterbury.
He is also Director of Learning and Teaching of the Faculty of Social Sciences
and Director of Research of the Department of Politics and International Relations.
Before joining the University of Kent in 1996, he held teaching and research
positions at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich, the University
of Hull and the Dresden University of Technology. He also taught for short
periods at Bogaziçi University in Turkey, the Institut d'Etudes Politiques,
Lille, France, and the University of Tampere in Finland. His research interests
include German and comparative politics, political institutions, coalition
politics, and migrants as political actors. Thomas Saalfeld is Associate Editor
of the Journal of Legislative Studies and co-editor of the journal German
Politics (see url below).
