Career: Michael Pugh is Professor in Postgraduate Research and Monitoring
Director at the University of Bradford. He researches security issues from
a critical theory perspective, to reflect on the frameworks and discourses
constructed to support various views about, and policies concerning, international
security. Since 2000 he has examined the frameworks of neo-liberalism, securitized
development and disciplinary governance as the basis of peace-building. He
has led an ESRC research project, in the ‘New Security Challenges’
programme, on the Transformation of War Economies. His research interests
include also security and international relations theory, transformation of
war-torn societies, peacekeeping and peace-building, political economy and
development. Michael Pugh is Editor of the journal International Peacekeeping
(see url below).
Publications include: Security Sector Transformation in Post-Conflict Societies (Conflict, Security and Development series) 2002, War Economies in a Regional Context: Challenges of Transformation 2004; numerous articles in professional journals
