Career: Professor Hugh Matthews is Director of Research and Knowledge Transfer and inaugural Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Northampton. He leads an administration responsible for developing and fulfilling the university’s research, consultancy and business development portfolio. With an international reputation for his studies on children and young people, Professor Matthews is currently Director of the Centre for Children and Youth, inaugural Editor of the journal Children’s Geographies (see url below), a member of the International Editorial Board of the Journal of Geography in Higher Education (see url below) and past Chair of the UK research group on children, youth and their families.

Publications include: more than 200 published papers, books and research reports
