Career: Richard Higgott is Professor of International Political Economy
and Director of the ESRC Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation
at the University of Warwick. He is also Senior Scientist and Director of
the EU Framework 6 Network of Excellence on Global Governance, Regionalisation
and Regulation and a Senior Fellow in the Institute of Governance and Public
Management in the Warwick Business School. He joined the Department in 1996
after holding professorial-level posts at the University of Manchester and
the Australian National University. He has been a member of the Board of Directors
of the Academic Council of the United Nations System since 2001, a Foundation
member of the Governing Council of the Institute of Governance and Public
Policy, Queen’s University, Belfast since 2001, a member of the International
Advisory Board of the Southeast Asian Research Centre, City University of
Hong Kong since 2001, a ‘High Level Expert Advisor’ on The Pacific
in the 21st Century to the Interaction Council of Former Heads of State since
2001, a Consultant on ‘Globalisation and Governance Project’ to
the British Council, and from 2000–01 Principal Policy Adviser to the
Royal Institute of International Affairs. He is co-editor of the journal The
Pacific Review (see url below) and a member of the editorial boards of ten
international journals, including: Global Society: An Interdisciplinary Journal
of International Relations, The Australian Journal of Politics and History,
Revue de la Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques, International Studies
Quarterly, International Relations of the Asia Pacific: A Journal of the Japanese
Association of International Relations, Transnational Networks, and Studies
in International Relations and Industry and Innovation.
