Career: Amy Helling was Associate Professor of Public Administration and
Urban Studies at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State
University from 2000–07. Previously she had been Assistant Professor
since 1993. Before that she had been Principal Planner with the Socio-Economic
Analysis Division of the Atlanta Regional Commission from 1992–93. Earlier
she had held appointments at Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology
and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She was Principal of her own firm
Amy Helling and Associates from 1983–88. Her research interests include
the role of planning and policy in the spatial and economic development of
metropolitan regions, public infrastructure planning and policy, and public
involvement in planning and policy-making processes. Amy Helling is Managing
Editor of the Journal of the American Planning Association (see url below).
