Career: David Gillingwater is Senior Lecturer in Transport Studies Group,
Department of Civil and Building Engineering at the University of Loughborough.
He joined the University as a Lecturer in 1984. He was promoted to Senior
Lecturer in 1988 and was appointed Leader of the Transport Studies Group from
1999–2002. He is member of the CILT National Assessment Board for Education
and Training, the Organizing Committee for the ME-SELA ’97 Conference
in Loughborough, the ME-SELA ’99 Conference in Newcastle, New South
Wales, Australia, the International Programme Committees for ISATA 1995, AEORS
1997, ME-SELA ’97 and ’99, co-organizer of the EPSRC Sustainable
Cities and Aviation Network, SCAN-UK. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute
of Logistics and Transport and a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning
Institute. David Gillingwater is Editor of the journal Transportation Planning
and Technology (see url below).
Publications include: Information Systems for Airport Operations 1992, Community Transport: Policy, Planning, Practice (co-editor) 1995, Knowledge Exchange – Stakeholders, Engineering, Logistics and Achievement (co-editor) 1997, Managing Enterprises – Stakeholders, Engineering, Logistics and Achievement 1997; numerous articles in professional journals on strategic decision support systems, environmental impacts of airport operations, organizational innovation and decision-making processes in transport operations, strategic management of rapid growth by global integrators, and novel algorithms and architectures for decision support systems
