Career: Robert Elias has taught at the University of San Francisco (USF)
since 1989. He founded the USF Legal Studies and the Peace and Justice Studies
programs, and now coordinates the Legal Studies and the 4+3 Law Program. He
is a Pre-Law Advisory Program member and advises the Student Pre-Law Society.
Robert Elias is from a Czech and Irish-Catholic working class family in New
York City. He is also editor of the journal Peace Review (see url below) and
Associate Editor of New Political Science, Radical America, the Encyclopedia
of Peace, Violence & Conflict and the International Review of Victimology.
He is also editor of Baseball and the American Dream and co-editor of Rethinking
Peace and of The Peace Resource Book.
Honours and awards: USF Distinguished Research Award 1996, Frank L. Beach
Award for Leadership in Service 2001, Sarlo Prize for teaching 2006
Publications include: Victims of the System, The Politics of Victimization, Victims Still, The Deadly Tools of Ignorance (mystery novel); numerous articles in professional journals on crime, victimization, human rights, alternative development and political movements
