Career: Brian Doherty is Senior Lecturer in the School of Politics, International
Relations and Philosophy at Keele University. His research interests include
green/environmental movements, protest and social movements, political violence,
and radical ideologies. From 2000–02 he worked with Alexandra Plows
and Derek Wall on an ESRC funded study of radical environmental direct action
communities in Britain. He is currently working with Timothy Doyle (Keele)
on a study of Friends of the Earth International as a trans-national network
of environmental organizations. Brian Doherty is co-editor of Social Movement
Studies (see url below).
Publications include: book on the Green Movement published in 2002; articles on green parties, environmental protest and co-edited books on democracy and green political Thought, direct action and British environmentalism and trans-national influences on national environmental groups
