CORBRIDGE Stuart
British economist and academicProfessor of Human Geography, Department of Geography
and Environment, London School of Economics
Career: Stuart Corbridge joined the Department of Geography and Environment
in 2001, having taught previously at Huddersfield, London (Royal Holloway),
Syracuse, Cambridge and Miami Universities. His research interests and areas
of supervision include governance, participation and empowerment in eastern
India, forest policies and politics in eastern India, traumatic spaces: Ayodhya
and Bhuj, India, and development theory. He is Joint Managing Editor of the
Journal of Development Studies (see url below).
Publications include: Capitalist World Development 1986, Debt and Development 1993, Mastering Space (co-author) 1995, Reinventing India (co-author) 2000, Jharkhand: Environment, Development, Ethnicity (co-author) 2004, Seeing the State: Governance and Governmentality in Rural India (co-author) 2007; numerous articles in professional journals
