Career: Alan Nevill is Research Professor in the School of Sport, Performing
Arts and Leisure at the University of Wolverhampton. He began his professional
career as a Lecturer at Plymouth Polytechnic from 1975–77 and then at
the University of Birmingham from 1977–95. He was Reader at the Liverpool
John Moores University from 1995–97 and Professor there from 1997–99.
Professor Nevill is a Core member of the Research Institute of Healthcare
Studies and a member of the SRC. He is currently Visiting Professor at Newman
College of Higher Education. His main research interests involve investigating,
analysing and modelling data recorded in sport, exercise and health sciences.
Alan Nevill has been a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society since 1975,
a member of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences since 1989
and of the American College of Sport Medicine since 1997. He was Chairman
of the Royal Statistical Society (Birmingham and District) from 1994–95
and the Royal Statistical Society (Merseyside Group) from 1997–99. He
is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Sports Sciences (see url below).
