Career: Keith Hartley is Professor of Economics and Director of the Centre for Defence Economics at the University of York. His research interests include: defence economics, NATO, procurement, contracts, competition, collaboration and offsets, disarmament and conversion, exports, defence industrial base, conflict, and public procurement in the Single European Market. He was an adviser to the Parliamentary Defence Committee and a member of the Editorial Board of Public Administration, Public Procurement Law Review and Review of Policy Issues. Professor Hartley is Secretary-General of the International Defence Economics Association and the University's representative on Yorkshire and Humberside TAVR. He is a member of the Academic Advisory Council and of the Institute of Economic Affairs. He is editor of the journal Defence and Peace Economics (see url below).
