Career: Thomas Christiansen studied at Hamburg University, the London School of Economics and the European University Institute in Florence and holds a PhD in Political Science from Maastricht University. He is Professor in European Institutional Politics at Maastricht University and also holds positions at the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht and at the College of Europe in Bruges. He is Executive Editor of the Journal of European Integration (see url below), co-editor of the 'Europe in Change' series at Manchester University Press and member of the steering committee of the Standing Group of the European Union of the European Consortium of Political Research. He has published widely on different aspects of the politics of the EU.”


Publications include: Committee Governance in the European Union (co-editor) 1999, The Social Construction of Europe (co-editor) 2001, Informal Governance of the European Union (co-editor) 2004, Rethinking European Foreign Policy (co-editor) 2005, Constitutionalising the European Union (co-author) (forthcoming 2008); numerous articles in professional journals on EU decision-making, comitology and the role of committees in the EU, the European Commission, the Council of Ministers, and theories of European integration
